Company

Akaya Labs is an independent software studio that turns clients' ideas into shipped products. Below you'll find who we are, how we work, and the principles we operate by.

01

One team, one point of accountability

In a typical digital agency model the designer may sit at one company, the frontend with another freelancer, the backend with a subcontractor and the mobile work with a third team. The inevitable outcome of this structure is handoff loss: information degrades at every transition, responsibility is spread thin, and defects fall into the 'not my area' boundary unowned. Akaya Labs rejects that model outright; every layer is built by the same team. A decision taken in the design file is taken by someone who understands how it will land in code. The client always knows whom to ask.

02

Long-term maintenance

The real life of a software product begins on the day it ships, not during delivery. Akaya Labs treats post-launch performance, maintenance, security updates and scaling as first-class concerns rather than optional add-ons. Both contract-based maintenance arrangements and retainer-style long-term partnerships are available. We do not move on the moment the product is live; post-launch support is the foundation of the long-term relationship with the client.

03

Agency-grade quality, independent studio

When a client chooses Akaya Labs, they receive the engineering quality and process discipline of a large agency together with the flexibility and ownership of a small studio. Code quality, documentation, test coverage, observability and security standards are held at corporate level regardless of the project's size. For Akaya Labs, operating as an independent studio does not mean working to a lower standard; it means offering a more personal service.

Our Vision

Few engagements done well. We grow the work, not the headcount.

Akaya Labs aims to grow in the nature of its work — not in scale.

Manifesto

Disciplined software. Delivery that keeps its word.

Akaya Labs is an independent software studio that turns clients' ideas into shipped products. From interface design to frontend, from server to mobile, from infrastructure setup through to live support, every layer is planned, built and delivered by the same team. This structure removes the cross-layer handoff loss typical of traditional agency models; the client always has a single point of contact and responsibility is never diluted.

We keep our distance from both extremes the software industry tends toward: the half-finished MVP rushed out in two weeks, and the ambitious engagement that stretches over two years and never actually ships. For Akaya Labs, the right pace is the pace at which a word can be kept. We honour the agreed timeline; when something needs to change, the reason and the revised schedule arrive together, and any additional cost is presented for client approval before an invoice is issued.

Premium product, boutique scale is a principle, not a tagline. We take a limited number of engagements each year so every project receives the time, attention and post-launch care it deserves. This choice constrains the studio's revenue line in the short term; in the long term it directly compounds the quality of the portfolio, the depth of the partnerships built with clients, and the longevity of the products delivered.

We do not design dark patterns or interfaces that manipulate the user, and we do not build software for gambling, betting or fraud-driven business models. These are not pleasant lines tacked onto a contract; they are corporate filters openly raised in the first conversation and, where required, leading to declining the engagement. Discipline and ethics are not marketing for Akaya Labs — they are the foundation of how the studio works.

Brand story

Akaya — calm, lasting and consistent.

Our name carries both a sense of care and inherited memory. The gold ring on the logo — an enso from the sumi-e tradition — represents the beauty of the impermanent and a steady resolve drawn in a single stroke.

The mountain silhouettes inside the ring are a nod to the Black Sea geography of Türkiye; quiet but rooted, making room for everything that grows on it. The sakura petal stands for softness; the crimson stamp for the accountability sitting beneath every product.

Working with this palette is not coincidental. Like every Akaya Labs product, the brand identity is a slow, careful, and owned decision.

How we work

How we partner with our clients.

01

Partner, not vendor

In the traditional agency model the client corresponds with a vendor to obtain a digital product; the vendor finishes the design, writes the code, sends an invoice and leaves. Akaya Labs finds that model insufficient. We approach the client as a technology partner that accounts for the long-term health of the product. Decisions are made together rather than over written notes; architectural choices, scaling plans, third-party dependencies and long-term maintenance costs are discussed openly. Risks are surfaced before they materialise, not after.

02

Written scope, no surprises

Every project begins with an agreed, written scope document. It defines the technical requirements, the delivery schedule, the payment plan, the number of revisions included and what falls outside the engagement. Changes that emerge during the project are aligned through an additional written agreement before they are added to scope; any extra cost or schedule shift is presented for client approval before an invoice is issued. 'We'll see later' and 'let's not discuss it now' do not appear in Akaya Labs contracts.

03

Right channel, fast response

Client communication is conducted through a single official channel agreed at the start of the contract, rather than across a fragmented set of tools. That channel — email, corporate messaging or a project management tool, chosen to fit the engagement — is held constant throughout. Official matters receive a response within one or two business days; a separate fast channel can be defined for technical emergencies. The client always speaks with the same person through the same channel; there are no team rotations or 'we've assigned you a new account manager' interruptions.

04

Ownership stays with the client

Everything produced — source code, design files, brand assets, user data, server and service access keys — always belongs to the client. Any copies retained on the Akaya Labs side are reference-only; if the client requests it on day one, access is handed over immediately. Should the client decide to work with another developer or studio, the handover runs cleanly, because architectural choices, third-party dependencies and any hidden configuration are documented from the outset. The Akaya Labs business model relies on clients choosing to continue the partnership, not on lock-in.
